Decal Installation Guide
Learn how to apply your vinyl decal with a clean, professional finish.
Watch the video below for a full dry-application tutorial — from surface prep to trimming.
For larger decals or window installs, use the wet method: mix a few drops of baby shampoo with water, spray the surface, position the decal, and squeegee out the water.
Work in shade at 15–25 °C (59–77 °F) and take your time — clean surface, firm pressure, smooth result.
What You’ll Need
- Decal
- Spray bottle with water + a few drops of baby shampoo or mild detergent (for wet application)
- Squeegee or plastic card
- Masking tape
- Microfiber cloth
- Knife for trimming
Step-by-Step
1. Clean the surface
Wash the area with mild detergent. Remove any dirt, wax, or grease. Dry with a lint-free cloth. The surface must be perfectly clean.
2. Position the decal
Use masking tape to hold the decal in place. Step back and check alignment before peeling anything.
3. Peel the backing
Lift one edge and slowly peel away the paper backing to expose the adhesive.
4. Wet method (recommended)
Spray the surface and the adhesive side with your soap-water mix. This lets you move the decal slightly while positioning.
5. Apply
Lay the decal down starting from one edge.
Squeegee from the centre outward to push out water and air.
6. Remove transfer tape
Once the decal is flat and bubbles are gone, slowly peel off the top layer at a low angle. If an edge lifts, press it back down and squeegee again.
7. Trim (if needed)
Universal decals are not cut to fit. Trim carefully along panel lines or window edges with a sharp knife.
8. Let it cure
Avoid washing your vehicle for 24–48 hours so the adhesive sets properly.
Tips
- Don’t stretch or pull the vinyl—it can deform.
- Warm the surface slightly if it’s below 15 °C (59 °F).
- If small bubbles appear, it will disappear in a month time, bigger ones can be pierced with a fine needle and press air out.

I’ve added a short video showing the full dry-application process — from positioning and peeling to trimming for a clean fit.
If you’re working with larger graphics or applying on glass, you can also use the wet method: mix a few drops of baby shampoo with water, spray the surface lightly, place the decal, and squeegee the water out.
